A pretty niche, yet, large at it's peak platform for the emo kids to type their deepest grief. Created by Sara Sioux in the late 90's, this site was booming before Myspace had stolen our hearts. At one point, she also had a site called "dearsara" but I do not have the privilage to figure out what it was lol. Sara was and is to this day a major pioneer in tech and how we see the internet today. She deserves an award. Melodramatic is now inactive, with the domain still owned by Sara. She uses it as a personal site and keeps the old journals archived in cold storage. The site did have plans for the future, but, from what I have read the poor woman was bullied out of keeping up with the site. Demand got too high for a small team to deal with. Maybe, one day, the girl of our dreams will revive it.
DeadJournal
DeadJournal was basically a goth version of LiveJournal. It still exists to this day, but it is very exclusive. You cannot join unless you purchase or are given a code from another user. It is the first site to have used LiveJournal's backend code. They consider themselves the og rip-off of the site lol. They were encouraged by a fellow Live user to make a parody site and Brad, the founder of LiveJournal, actually helped the DJ founder Frank set up the site himself. This site is notable because it will probably be mentioned in a few of my web celeb lore drops.
